What is EScript?

EScript is a totally new freeware macro language for EPOC computers. Short for EPOC Script, EScript allows YOU to write powerful macro solutions for EScript applications.

Macros allow you to control other applications, automate processes, input data and even automate the EScript application itself. EScript is easy to use and you don't have to be a programmer to understand how to use it.

What's the difference between EScript and Macro5?

The answer is a lot! Macro5 was the first macro system for EPOC Palmtops. Written by Pascal Nicolas and available as a separate library, Macro5 macros allow you to create powerful macro applets on your EPOC computer.

EScript is slightly different. Much like the Java Script and Visual Basic Script languages, EScript compliments Macro5 macros by providing new and different commands. EScript applications can support both EScript commands and Macro5 commands (with the macro5 library installed), enabling you to use the best parts of both languages just as you can combine JScript and VBScript within a web site.

With the acceptance of Macro5 and EScript by a growing number of authors, we can safely say that these two macro systems are THE macro solutions for the EPOC platform.

EScript is supplied with a full on-line help file with command reference, and instructions on how to add EScript support to your own applications.

EScript is available from the EPOC+Plus download page. Applications that require EScript like Backlite+ and ExtraBars will also include the install kit in their own installation packages.
