What is CoolBar? CoolBar is a replacement toolbar for EPOC OPL applications. Based on the Psion toolbar, CoolBar extends it's capabilities by allowing up to 6 buttons instead of 4 so you can add more functionality into your own applications. CoolBar is intended for developers, and all instructions on how to use it are included in the downloadable zip file. Below is CoolBar running in Backlite+
Why use CoolBar? If you develop for EPOC using OPL you'll have come across the Toolbar especially if you use Alan Richeys S5Event framework application. The standard toolbar allows 4 buttons whereas CoolBar adds to more allowing up to 6 buttons! In addition, "CoolPanels" or "InfoPanels" allow your application to show extra information like battery status, remote link and disk space. "CoolPanels" are the same size as the EPOC clock and clicking the clock toggles the digital, analogue time as well as the free disk space, remote link status and battery levels. Future features will incorporate customisable "CoolPanels" allowing developers to produce plugin panels for CoolBar enabled applications to use. How do you use it? CoolBar works just like the standard toolbar and apart from one new command to start (where you specify the buttons), it works just like the EPOC toolbar, so please refer to the user guide to find out more. With the acceptance of Macro5 and EScript by a growing number of authors, we can safely say that these two macro systems are THE macro solutions for the EPOC platform. So how do you get it and how much is it? Well, here's the very best bit, CoolBar freeware so no registration is required. All I ask is that you credit me in the app in an extended about screen.
